When two friends found each other through a love of reading, art and fashion, magic happened and exploded onto a canvas that was 6 months and thousands of miles and text messages in the making. Olivia and Skylar met through booktok in 2022 and became fast friends through a penpal situation. 
 
They soon realized that painting the fantastical was something they had in common, and interestingly enough, their styles complimented one another in such drastic yet still familiar ways. Sky works heavily in vibrant color and in epic poses of her subjects that radiate light and energy much like the sun.. think battle scenes and climaxes of high fantasy novels. Olivia on the other hand is heavily influenced by darkness and works exclusively in greyscale. Her work mimics the moon with emotional depictions of her characters often alone and in their most profound and often heartbreaking moments.
 
This painting is a work that combines both epic depictions and emotional detail in juxtaposition. ‘The war of wings’ is one of friendship and of power, in perfect harmony much like the friends who created them.
